The works in this series start from a single foundational proportional grid or "Mandala" modeled on the recursive domes of ancient Asia's sacred structures, like the Meenakshi temple of Madurai. The resulting forms take several shapes: undulating 3D structures that catch and bend light, flower-like patterns, and vessels that echo pottery silhouettes. Unlike physical structures, these undulate forever between probable forms, marking the constant churning of time and the persistence of impermanance.
The algorithm first creates a foundational grid pattern based on proportionality rules of mandala. This grid is then extruded recursively in 3D space. Its exterior surface is then modulated along a geometric curve to manually give it shape. This shape is recursively rotated along the base to add branches and in this way, the resulting digital sculptures are formed.
